Nice Resort - Great value All inclusive
We stayed at Lily beach for 10 days in Feb10 and we were in a beach villa .This was our second visit to the Maldives - our first one being Rangali a couple a years ago . It just goes to show how we all see things different ly as reading a recently posted review of someone who has been to both islands and we have a completely different opinion .Flights - We flew BA - not great but no worse than any other airline on a long haul economy flight. preferred this direct flight to going via the middle East . No problem on the seaplane to the island but we only just got back to Male airport for return flight . We were told 10am pick up - finally left island at 11.30 ! ended up being last to check in and then run through to get on plane .Room - We had beach villa in about the middle of the island - very nice - very comfortable bed - but watch for the wooden edge - Room could do with more lightling and maybe another mirror or picture on the wall . Mini bar filled up everyday and extra water given whenever we were running low . Nice big bathroom . Only problem we had was mosquitos in the room at night - I was bitten alot and never normally do .
Island - this is not an island you can walk all around on the beach- you can only walk one side of it - the other side has lagoon rooms/restaurant / pontoons etc . There are quite a few retaining walls as well ( there for a good reason) but some are quite old and not very pretty . So if you want the 'perfect' paradise ' looking island this may not be for you . The beach is very clean , lots of shallow water and the reef very close to shore . Could very easily sit there every day forever. Night fishing was good as well - caught my first fish :)Bars/Restaurants - We found the food to be to a very high standard and there is alot of choice .OH is a fussy veggie and still found something to eat at every meal . If it was not AI and we had to pay for each of these meals we would not have had any complaints . Sometimes AI resorts do think you will eat anything they put there but this is not one of those places . Hubbie recommends the curries at the Tamarind very highly.Drinks are all named brands and there is a good choice . I prefer wine and thought there was a good choice and some reasonably qualitly wines included .I fell in love with Aqua - went there for lunch everyday and sunset drinks every evening - I cant remember their names but the 2 barmen there are very good . The view is amazing - I want to buy just that part of the island and live there forever:) Staff - All of the staff were very friendly and on the most part you get a good service . We did find that a few staff in the restaurant didnt really understand what we said and brought us incorrect drinks etc We solved this by making sure we sat in an area where the staff were very good the main bar service was a bit hit and miss as well .Over all we had a lovely relaxing holiday and got what we were expecting
还有Comparing it to Rangali - Rangali was prettier, rooms are bigger and slightly more luxurious and saw more variety of marine life on the house reef - that is about the only difference, we found the food at about the same quality. If you compare what you pay at rangali to eat and drink what we did at Lily the cost would be nearly double and is Rangali twice as good? - no - not in our opinion anyway .Would we go back to Lily - yes - but there are so many other islands to try first - but if you dont want the worry of a rather large food/drinks bill at the end of your stay and want quality value for money this is the place to go.Please PM if you have any specific questions .Karin PS I know this question has been raised before - They dont broadcast it but cigarettes are included in the AI - they are available at all the bars - They are singles but they dont mind you taking a few(or more) at a time. The brands were Camels and MArlboro Red/Gold ,but we did come across Kents and B&H as well
