关于英语中 have been to 的用法

I have been there for six months.
这句话是现在完成时，there是地点副词前不加介词。
所以have been to 表示曾经去过某地，现在已经不在那了。
但是我看书本上翻译说“我已经在这住了6个月了”，是说明他说话此时已经不在那个地方了吗？
