When will the bright moon appear? I raise my cup and question the clear sky. Unaware of the heavenly palace's whereabouts, tonight, what year is it? I wish to ride the wind and return, but fear the jade halls and high towers in the sky, where the cold penetrates deeply. I dance, casting a clear shadow, yet it feels like I'm in a world apart.
The red palace revolves, the silken windows are low, illuminating endless sleeplessness. There should be no lingering regrets; why does the full moon remind me of separations?
Humans experience joys and sorrows, unions and partings, while the moon witnesses its phases of brightness and dimness. Such ancient tales rarely find their resolution. I only wish people eternal happiness, even if miles apart, sharing the beauty of the moon.
